I recently listened to a great podcast episode from Training Think Tank where they discussed what to do if you want to be more competitive with your fitness, and also what do you do when you no longer want to be competitive with your fitness. It was a great conversation around working out, and striving to continually improve. The big question that emerged was what do you want to do with your fitness?
Do you want to test yourself in the Open and local CrossFit events, or is there something else you want to do to express your fitness. Do you want to play pickleball, golf, baseball, basketball, or cricket on the weekend? Do you want to be able to household chores, play with your kids, and be self-sufficient for a long time?
There is no right or wrong answer, and your personal answer can change over the course of months and years. There may be times where you want to see what you’re capable of at local events like CrossFit competitions, Spartan races, Deka events, 5k’s and other fitness tests. Then there may be months where you want to workout so that you can enjoy hiking, biking, or going for long walks with your family and friends.
The moral of the story is that in order to have a better idea of what you want your fitness to do for you, it’s a great idea to answer the question, “How do I want to express my fitness?” By answering this question, it allows you to keep the focus where you want it to be with your workouts, nutrition, sleep, and stress management.
If you want help working through that question, our coaches would love to help you identify what is most important for you right now, and set you up for success.
